There's one good thing about the freezing cold southerly weather systems that hit New Zealand. Usually right after they clear, you can expect nice weather and some fresh swell. We had about 5 beautiful days of sunshine and lots of juicy waves around Lyall Bay. Our sessions were capped at about 30 minutes since we're still being babies about the cold water.
